Getting Started

For the following, you'll need to know the following associations:

  • Android 4.0.3, API 15 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • Android 4.0, API 14
  • Android 3.2, API 13 (Honeycomb)
  • Android 3.1, API 12
  • Android 3.0, API 11
  • Android 2.3.3, API 10 (Gingerbread)
  • Android 2.2, API 8 (Froyo)
  • Android 2.1, API 7 (Eclair)
  • Android 1.6, API 4 (Donut)
  • Android 1.5, API 3 (Cupcake)

MonoDevelop C# Code

  1. Download Mono for Android/iOS for Mac/Windows
    1. Visit http://xamarin.com/ and Download version for your system
    2. Install (will take about 800MB and 30 minutes)
  2. Run MonoDevelop
  3. Start a new Solution
  4. Choose C#, Mono Android or iOS
  5. Name your solution "Application1", create a directory
  6. You will then have a program template ready to run

MonoDevelop Android Virtual Device AVD

  1. Menu -> Project
  2. Select Device Target, Manage Devices...
  3. Highlight the appropriate simulator
  4. Click the Create Emulator
  5. Select the version API 14, and press Start
  6. Change any options, and press Launch
  7. Once the Emulator has started, in Manage Devices select Ok
  8. You must pick a build target in menu -> Project -> Application1 Options -> Build -> General -> Target framework: Android 4.0
  9. You must select the emulator in MonoDevelop, menu -> Project -> Device Target -> emulator-5554 (for example)
  10. Finally, select menu -> Project -> Upload to device
