Summary of how to install

1. Confirm you have administrative rights in Windows 7

  • Go to the start menu, control panel, and user accounts. If you are an administrator, the word 'Administrator' will appear under your account name. If you are not an administrator, you will need to find someone (usually the owner of the computer) who has an administrator account and will enter their password when you are prompted.

2. Download and Install Mono

3. Download and Install Calico

  • Grab the zip file: myro.roboteducation.org/~dblank/download
  • Extract it to a folder (say, on your Desktop or home folder)
    • If you have a 32-bit Windows you will probably need to edit the StartCalico.bat file:
    • From: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mono-2.6.7\bin\mono" bin\calico.exe %*
    • To: "C:\Program Files\Mono-2.6.7\bin\mono" bin\calico.exe %*

4. Download and Install Options

  • To run Calico in another language (currently Spanish is supported), edit the StartCalico.bat file

5. Run Calico

  • open the Calico folder
  • double-click the StartCalico.bat startup script
  • You can make a link or shortcut to this file by right clicking on the file in "Computer" and dragging it to where you want it to go and selecting "create shortcut here". Make sure you are making a shortcut - Do not move the startup script out of the directory.
