Travel Details

Map at the Midtown area.

The workshop will be held in the Technology Square Research Building (Rooms 131/132) located at 85 5th Street NW, Atlanta GA. This building is across the street from the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

Airport

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (code: ATL) is your best bet for flying into Atlanta.

Travel from the Airport If you arrive in Atlanta via Air, the easiest way to get into the city is to take the light rail (MARTA) to the N3 (North Avenue) or N4 (Midtown) station. From the airport, all trains head north and will pass by N3 and N4. (Cost is $2 one way, plus a 50c fee for an RFID ticket) A one-way taxi into the Midtown zone of the city is a flat rate of $32, plus $2 per additional person, plus a $1.50 flag drop fee, plus optional tip.

Tech Trolley from N4 The Georgia Tech "Tech Trolley" offers free service from the N4 (Midtown) rail station (located at the intersection of 10th street and West Peachtree street) through the GaTech campus. (The trolley boards on the south side of the station, on Peachtree Place NE.) The first stop after you board the trolley at the Midtown station is directly outside of the Technology Square Research Building. To reach the GaTech Hotel and Conference Center, walk back 1/2 block and cross the street. Note that on Sunday the Tech Trolley only operates from 3pm-9:30pm, and the frequency is every 36 minutes.

Walking from N3 If you have rolling luggage and are arriving on Sunday when the Tech Trolley schedule is reduced (see below) you may wish to walk to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference center from the N3 (North Avenue) MARTA rail stop. The N3 rail station has two exits, and you want to take the one at the North side of the station (continue in the direction of travel of the train you just got off to take you to the North exit.) The north exit opens into the lobby of the AT&T (formerly BellSouth) building which opens up onto West Peachtree street at 3rd street. When you reach West Peachtree street, walk north (turn left as you exit the marta station into the lobby, and then right as you exit via the revolving doors to the street). Walk north on West Peachtree (You will pass by the Center for the Visually Impaired and the Visability Store) to 5th street. Turn left onto 5th street at the Biltmore building and walk one block West to Spring Street. The Entrance to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference center is a revolving door at the corner of 5th streets and spring streets, on the South-West corner of the intersection. They are located across Spring street from the GT Barnes & Noble bookstore, and across 5th street from the RBC Centura Bank. Route from the North exit of the N3 station to the GT Hotel and Conference Center The distance is 4 blocks, and approximately 0.3 miles.

Reservations have already been made under your name for the nights of January 7th and 8th. If you need to also reserve a room for January 6th (GaTech rate: $109 + taxes a night) please email Jay Summet, or contact Jessica Coane at the Georgia Tech Hotel (404.838.2109).

Driving / Parking For those of you driving to the workshop, you can park in the Centergy / Technology Square Research Building parking deck.

The Centergy Building parking deck is on Abercrombie between Williams and Spring Street. You can turn onto Abercrombie from Spring Street or enter the deck directly from Williams street. The deck itself is on Williams street directly behind the Technology Square Research Building.

We can validate your parking in the TSRB/Centergy deck, bring us your ticket.

I have centered this map on the parking deck. Note that Abercrombie (not shown on the map) is a small street running between Spring and Williams behind the Centergy One and Technology Square Research building (the building with "Moe's Southwest Grill" in it.)

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=33.778345,-84.390192&spn=0.004312,0.00317&z=18

The easiest way to get to the deck is to drive west on 5th street, turn right (north) onto Williams street, and then take the next right onto Abercrombie which will drive right by the deck entrance. A walkway on the 5th level connects directly to the TSRB, which is located directly south of the parking deck.
