Known Bluetooth Problems

__Workarounds__ We recommend the Azio BTD-V201 USB Micro Bluetooth Adapter, Class 1, V2.1 + EDR which when combined with the provided software (Toshiba Bluetooth Stack for Windows) works very reliably with the fluke 1 and fluke 2. Many issues with off-brand USB Bluetooth adapters are easily fixed by replacing the adapter with an Azio BTD-V201.
A student purchased the Azio USB Micro Bluetooth Adapter Version 4.0 + EDR (BTD-V400) and while it would see/pair with the fluke, it would not connect when used with the provided software "CSR Harmony windows Bluetooth Stack". However, by un-installing that software (add/remove program control panel) and rebooting the computer, the Windows default bluetooth stack worked correctly with that adapter. However, we recommend the V201, as it is a class 1 adapter, which gets better range.
__Never Works__ I have consistently seen many newer laptops with built in "Intel Centrino Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 (or 4.0) High Speed Adapters" NOT work. Another chipset that I have also consistently failed to get working with Fluke's is the Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapters (one brand that uses this chipset is Targus). I have tried a lot of different things, and the only solution I have found is to have the student buy an Azio VTD-V201 (or some other external USB Adapter.) If anybody finds a solution that makes these built in bluetooth chipsets work, please let me know...Jay
